Skills & Talent Tree Design

This document details the racial passive traits, combat class skills (active and passive), and the talent progression framework for CROSS.

🌲 Talent Tree Progression Framework

Players earn 1 Talent Point per level-up. They distribute these points via their UI (Twitch Extension or Standalone Client).

  1. Level Locks: Talents are organized in horizontal rows (Tiers) locked by character level milestones (e.g. Tier 1 unlocks at Level 1, Tier 2 at Level 10, Tier 3 at Level 20).
  2. Specialization Trees: Choosing a subclass at Level 15 unlocks the specialized side-branch of the talent tree, offering advanced buffs to the subclass’s signature skill.
  3. Point Gates: To unlock a higher Tier, a minimum total number of talent points must have been spent in lower tiers.
  4. Real-Time Sync: Like equipment changes, when a player saves their talent selection, the client sends a SAVE_TALENTS WebSocket packet to the Master Server. The server validates the player’s level and point allocation before saving to the database and returning the updated state back to the streamer’s overlay client.
